| Located in the Texas Panhandle, Amarillo, which means "yellow" in Spanish, was named after the color of the subsoil in Amarillo Creek. A longtime agricultural center, Amarillo draws thousands of Old West enthusiasts each year who come to visit the area's numerous cattle ranches, many of which still function as they did when they were established more than a century ago. The Amarillo Civic Center also hosts the annual Amarillo Farm and Ranch Show, one of the largest agricultural trade shows in the United States. Twenty miles south of Amarillo, Palo Duro Canyon State Park, the country's second largest canyon, draws thousands of visitors each summer to experience the outdoor epic production "TEXAS." Nearby also is Cadillac Ranch, where visitors can see ten Cadillacs buried nose-down in a field. Other attractions located in Amarillo include the Amarillo Zoo and Amarillo Museum of Art.
