Aurora, CO Choose another US City | Choose another Colorado City

Known as the "Gateway to the Rockies," the city of Aurora is located adjacent to Denver, near the Denver International Airport. The military has had a significant influence on the growth and development of Aurora as a city. During World War I, it was chosen as a site for an Army Recuperation Camp that later became Fitzsimons Army Hospital. Lowry Field, an Army Air Corps training school, was established in Aurora during World War II; and Buckley Airfield and the Rocky Mountain Arsenal in neighboring areas have drawn many residents to Aurora. Recreational opportunities in Aurora include fishing, sailing, boating, and hiking at the Aurora Reservoir and Cherry Creek State Park.
