| The capital of Georgia, Atlanta is also the largest city in the state, as well as one of the top relocation destinations in the country. Atlanta's plentiful economic opportunities and relatively low cost of living result in an estimated 100,000 people relocating to the metro area each year. The metropolitan area of Atlanta encompasses five distinct counties -- Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton, and Gwinnett -- each with its own unique activities and attractions. Primarily located in Fulton County, the City of Atlanta is home to the trendy neighborhood of Buckhead; CNN Center, which is also the world headquarters for Turner Broadcasting System; Underground Atlanta, a restored below-street-level marketplace, and the adjacent World of Coca-Cola; and Zoo Atlanta. Atlanta's Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change includes the Center itself, the home where Dr. King was born, his gravesite, and the Ebenezer Baptist Church where he preached. North of Atlanta lies Antebellum Roswell, which features antebellum homes and historical landmarks, as well as shops and galleries. The area south of downtown Atlanta, in Clayton County, was the setting for the novel "Gone With the Wind." Other notable attractions in Atlanta's metro area include Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield and the 3,200-acre Stone Mountain Park, featuring the world's largest bas-relief sculpture. |
