National Park Week

Friday, April 16th, 2010

During National Park Week, April 17-25, all national park areas will waive entrance fees. “Our focus for National Park Week is on fitness,” said John Jarvis, director of the National Park Service.  “Half as many kids get outside as they did ten years ago.  Sixty percent of Americans do not get the recommended amount of exercise they need.  One third of adults are not physically active at all.  Junior Ranger Day, April 24, is a particularly good time to invite visitors to plan camping excursions, hikes, bike rides, kayak trips, or other outdoor family adventures.”
